Tidewater Community College seeks applications for ten(10) Summer Camp Host positions.
These part-time, temporary positions will provide support to TCC’s Summer Camps for 2017. The Summer Camps are held for youth in Grades 3-12 in order to give them an opportunity to discover and explore a variety of career options. Camps will be held from June 26th through June 30th and from July 10th through August 18th. Summer Camp Host hours will be Monday through Thursday or Friday and will vary from ½ day to full day depending on the specific camp. Because part time employees may not exceed 29 hours per week, job sharing may be required, averaging 4 days per week. Employment may be from one week to seven weeks if applicant is available and willing to work at all campuses (Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach).
The Summer Camp Host is responsible for maintaining copies of all official camp forms, rosters, attendance sheets, etc. Responsible for greeting campers upon arrival and directing or escorting them to the correct location. The Summer Camp Host must be available to teachers throughout the camp day to assist as needed during instruction and breaks and to monitor campers during lunch. Summer Camp Hosts are also responsible for facilitating pick up at the end of the day by verifying ID of drivers against the list of those approved for pick up.
Must possess exceptional oral and written communication skills including the ability to give directions and explain tasks. Computer skills in basic Microsoft programs, particularly Excel. Ability to meet, greet, and assist students and their parents/guardians in a courteous and helpful manner. Ability to organize and work with details and maintain accurate records. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, in conjunction with superior customer service. Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, to achieve team goals. Ability to follow directions.
Possess a current CPR/First aid/AED certification. Previous experience working in a summer camp as an assistant or camp counselor.
