Information Technology Services (ITS) at Old Dominion University is seeking a candidate to provide technical guidance, knowledge, and support of University managed IT resources to include but not limited to: Networked and Stand-Alone Workstations; Laptops; Local and Networked Printers; Client and Server Side applications; and Research and Development of deployment technologies for client/server applications, policies and procedures to effectively manage the University’s enterprise environment using industry best practices.

Required qualifications include:

  • A working knowledge of supporting the current versions of Microsoft Windows or the current Apple OS operating systems in a server/client environment.
  • A basic understanding (knowledge) of:  Hardware and software diagnostics and troubleshooting of desktop workstations and peripherals; Network topographies, devices, protocols, and concepts; Workstations security best practices to safeguard against spyware, viruses, intrusion, software and operating system exploits; Project life cycle from research and development, planning, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to:  Effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to handle multiples projects and deadlines; Think clearly and solve complex problems under pressure; Effectively communicate both orally and in writing to provide support, documentation, and occasionally training to both technical and non-technical customers and peers; Work independently with minimal supervision; with a team in completing tasks and assignments; or with other System Administrators or vendor support to solve problems or complete IT-related projects; Provide customer service to users and peers.

Required certifications include:  Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) or Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or a greater level of Certifications or equivalent industry standard certifications and or equivalent work and educational experience.
