Technical Learning Specialist

At Capital One, we’re building a leading information-based technology company. Still founder-led by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Fairbank, we measure our efforts by the success our customers enjoy and the advocacy they exhibit. We are succeeding because they are succeeding.

Tech College Position Overview:

We are creating something unique and unprecedented: a re-imagined hub for technology training called Tech College. This is a bold investment in developing our associates and leaders, recruiting top technical and non-technical talent, and continuing to differentiate ourselves in the market. Tech College aims to transform our approach to enabling our associates and leaders with the technical skills they need to be successful in current and future roles. We constantly strive to deliver impactful and engaging learning experiences through the most cutting-edge methods to directly enable the success of our people and our business.

As a Learning Program Consultant within Tech College, you will lead the end-to-end strategy and execution for learning curricula in a highly technical subject area. In doing so, you will serve as the lead strategist for translating business intent into a learning product roadmap, and manage an agile team to design, develop, curate, and implement highly engaging learner-centric materials. The technical curricula you will oversee will target different types of learners, from novices to experts, with a focus (though not exclusively) on digital-first learning methods (e.g., video, animation, virtual instructor-led training, simulations, and other e-learning content).

Furthermore, in addition to leading the development of custom learning assets, you’ll select and curate a wide array of materials from third-party sources all of which will help fuel our growth as a Tech company and enable our associates to develop cutting-edge skills. If you are passionate about both technology and learning and love the idea of revolutionizing the learning experience for a group of hyper-digital, fun-seeking, customer-centric associates, read on!

As a Learning Program Consultant, you will partner directly with the subject area Director to shape the learning product roadmap and drive execution of the curriculum strategy. You will also work with a team of engineers and learning experience designers to design, develop, and implement innovative and industry-leading technical training curricula with a keen focus on digital learning and human-centered design approaches. You will drive efforts to assess learning needs, align learning strategies, and develop learning experiences that keep Capital One associates on the leading-edge of technology trends and capabilities. Finally, you’ll work with the Director of Partnerships to shape and manage our portfolio of content vendor relationships, and partner with supporting teams to facilitate successful curriculum deployment throughout Tech College.

This is a rare opportunity to bring your unique mix of adult learning, design, and technical skills in a role with meaningful impact, solve challenging problems, think creatively, and continuously be on the top of your game in a supportive environment where we put the technology learner first. If this sounds like an interesting challenge and a compelling opportunity, we would love to meet you!

Responsibilities:

- Consult with technical advisors, business partners, and subject matter experts to shape the curriculum strategy and roadmap for a technical subject area

- Manage end-to-end curriculum design, development, and implementation including working with engineers and Learning Experience Designers

- Identify Learning Experience Design needs and manage workflow of Learning Experience Designers to design and develop learning experiences based on Adult Learning Principles

- Curate holistic curriculum of custom (i.e., internally developed) and third-party content assets, making recommendations for new or updated resources as appropriate

- Manage ongoing processes for curriculum review, maintenance, redesign, rollout, measurement, and reporting

- Define target learner personas and learning paths

- Utilize human-centered design principles and a variety of learning delivery modalities, including digital, to develop learner-centric solutions (e.g., video,

animation, virtual instructor-led training, simulations, hands-on labs, social learning, on-the-job projects)

- Partner with internal stakeholders to manage vendor partnership portfolio and execute learning marketing and administration tactics

- Manage workload of multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal direction and supervision

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

- At least 2 years of experience in technology training design and development

- At least 1 years of experience in performance consulting

- At least 2 years of experience in digital development tools

- At least 2 years of experience in Adobe Creative Suite

- At least 1 years of experience developing learning modalities outside of instructor-led training and eLearning

- At least 3 years of experience in MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree

- 3+ years of experience in technology training design and development with a specialization in designing learning for technologists

- 3+ years of experience in curriculum development

- 3+ years of experience in learning strategy or learning design/development consulting

- 3+ years of experience in product management

- 3+ years of experience working on an Agile team

At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
