Description: West Creek 2 (12072), United States of America, Richmond, Virginia

At Capital One, we’re building a leading information-based technology company. Still founder-led by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Fairbank, Capital One is on a mission to help our customers succeed by bringing ingenuity, simplicity, and humanity to banking. We measure our efforts by the success our customers enjoy and the advocacy they exhibit. We are succeeding because they are succeeding.

Guided by our shared values, we thrive in an environment where collaboration and openness are valued. We believe that innovation is powered by perspective and that teamwork and respect for each other lead to superior results. We elevate each other and obsess about doing the right thing. Our associates serve with humility and a deep respect for their responsibility in helping our customers achieve their goals and realize their dreams. Together, we are on a quest to change banking for good.

UX/UI Designer

Are you a talented designer who also has the ability to apply your skills to a user-centered approach? A strong graphic designer portfolio is a great start, but we’re looking for much more than that. Our Enterprise Content Marketing team is hiring a visual designer who champions brand-defining user experiences to help lead next-generation digital content experiences for Capitalone.com.

Excellent html and CSS knowledge is definitely a good thing, but we care more about your understanding of how to construct designs flexible enough to display across multiple browsers, screen sizes, platforms and devices. Most importantly, we’re looking for a designer able to understand how the users will want to instinctively interact with the UI, and provide them with the ability to perform their tasks intuitively.

**You are:**

+ **A designer with an eye for detail:** Foremost, you’re a creative mind who designs thoughtful interactions that will delight customers. You obsess about the details. You have a sharp eye for typography and visual design and can create beautiful experiences leveraging existing styles in new ways.

+ **A passionate customer advocate:** You put the end user first and keep that person in mind throughout You’re passionate about user research and seek to elevate the customer’s needs above your own preferences.

+ **A master craftsman:** You’re a usability pro who can confidently drive projects from research and strategy through detailed wireframe execution. You’ve got a whole arsenal of tools and techniques at your disposal that you dispatch appropriately depending on customer and business goals.

+ **A systems thinker:** You think larger than just the task at hand. You have lots of experience working within large and complicated web and product eco-systems with many touch points and channels. When you craft solutions, you’re thinking about how they will scale and fit within established systems and patterns.

+ **A data analyst:** You work with interdisciplinary teams to find metrics to measure your designs against business needs. You seek out analytics and user testing data to help guide future design decisions, and you iterate on your past design decisions with a focus on continuous improvement.

+ **An adaptable communicator:** You not only know how to craft your design ideas into visionary and strategically charged stories, but you are able to modify your communication style to best fit a wide range of audiences, including business partners and stakeholders.

+ **Collaborative:** You’re a team player who puts the interest of the team above your own. You display a positive attitude, are open and enjoy contributing, which contributes to your respected leadership on the team.

+ **A strong leader:** You’re a pro-active team player who leads by example. You jump in to lead and facilitate group sessions, take on accountability and ownership of work, but also know how to roll up your sleeves and contribute to whatever, whenever. People on your team are inspired by your humble expertise.

+ **A successful juggler:** You don’t get overwhelmed or flustered easily. You’re able to keep track of multi-projects at once, manage your time efficiently and appropriately communicate scheduling with the broader team.

**What You’ll Bring:**

+ A portfolio that highlights strong web experience developing cutting-edge design flows and interaction models for large scale, best in class brands. Your portfolio should show work that spans across a variety of platforms, is responsive and considers scale.

+ Solid UX and UI experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, customer journey maps and site maps.

+ Ability to quickly deliver multiple, inventive ideas that are fresh and simple, while solving complex customer and business needs.

+ Ability to work from low fidelity to high fidelity.

+ Ability to create prototypes that showcase design concepts and interaction patterns.

+ Ability to craft elegant and persuasive presentation and storytelling capabilities that create momentum and buy-in of your work from business stakeholders.

+ Ability to research the latest technologies, best practices, and online trends to provide recommendations for the team.

+ Proficiency with current design tools (Adobe CC, Sketch, Invision, etc)

+ Skilled relationship-builder with strong, high-leverage internal networks

+ Comfortable thinking on your feet and working through ambiguity

+ Comfortable working in a matrixed, consensus driven organization

+ Comfortable influencing across all levels and functions

+ Passion and skill in behavioral data and the power of making data informed decisions

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience

+ At least 3 years of experience within user experience design

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ At least 5 years of experience designing for omni-channel services

+ At least 3 years of experience with prototyping tools
