Visual Designer, Capital One Cafes



On the Café Design team you will be designing interactive experiences for anything from tablets to 98” touch screens. The experiences should be informative, useful, and engaging while showing our customers who we are as a company. For our customers, Capital One Cafes are community centers where they can come in, take care of everyday banking needs, and catch up with friends, work, or me-time over a cup of coffee and a snack. For Capital One, our cafes are an opportunity to showcase our take on banking—digital first, customer-focused, empowering.



**As a Visual Designer on this team you:**



- Are a great visual problem solver who can take complex concepts and communicate them in a simple, elegant and accessible manner.



- Use your grasp of composition, layout, typography and information hierarchy to communicate across a variety of screen sizes.



- Can shift from whiteboard to sketchbook to your digital tools of choice like Illustrator, Sketch, Photoshop and/or AfterEffects.



- Have worked within a branded identity system and successfully extended the system.



- Have a solid foundation in UX, but your passion is for pixel perfect design.



- Have a diverse portfolio including work spanning vector illustration, event branding and mobile design.



**Bonus:**



You can translate ideas into engaging illustrations that inform viewers.



You’re a good fit if you:



- Understand that good design balances user, business, and technical feasibility needs



- Are excited to work on a multidisciplinary team and facilitate alignment across different perspectives



- Stay on top of the latest technology trends and are up for the challenge of bringing new technologies to a conservative industry



**Basic Qualifications:**



- Bachelor’s Degree or military experience



- At least 3 years of experience in one of the following: Design Strategy, UX Design, or Industrial Design



**Preferred Qualifications:**



-Master’s Degree



- 4+ years of experience in Design Strategy, UX Design, Communication Design or Industrial Design



- Experience working in a highly regulated industry



- Experience with a digital product & services company
