The role of a Client Technology Engineer is to serve as a technical lead in supporting Client Technology throughout its entire lifecycle, including initial provisioning, ongoing support, and decommissioning. Provide software support for client OS, productivity tools, and line-of-business applications across all platforms.  Provide hardware support for Client Technology including laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, smartphones, phones, tablets, etc. Maintain cyber security awareness, support client endpoint protection, respond to cyber security incidents in accordance with established policies and procedures. Develop enterprise-wide client technology OS and application rollouts; manage baseline image administration for multiple hardware configurations. Provide preventative maintenance and troubleshooting expertise. Provide end-user account lifecycle support from initial creation, to ongoing administration, to archival. Design and maintain consistent end-user experience across all computing platforms. Promote standards driven engineering; support process improvement initiatives.  
 
Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform Windows operating system baseline image creation and tailoring for specific hardware configurations and software requirements.
  • Support application packaging, policy driven deployment, and documentation in an Enterprise setting.
  • Deploy OS images, applications, and management capabilities across the Agency.
  • Utilize automation to maximize platform management consistency and productivity.
  • Maintain platform security and compliance.
  • Define, create, test, and deploy Group Policy for Client Technology.
  • Perform Office 365 Administration.
  • Perform Mobile Device Management.
  • Perform User Account administration in Active Directory and Azure environments.
  • Provide preventative maintenance.
  • Provide troubleshooting and quickly resolve routine problems to ensure infrastructure stability.
  • Perform technology records and inventory management in accordance with Agency’s Policy and Procedures.
  • Helpdesk support.
  • Manage records created and received in compliance with the Hampton Roads Transit Records Management Policy and Procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a general awareness of HRT’s EMS
  • Responsible for handling all related job responsibilities in accordance to HRT’s Environmental Policy, relevant EMS Standard Operating Procedures, and Emergency Management Plan
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills essential to Job Functions:

Required Software/Hardware Knowledge and Skills essential to Job Functions:
Proficiency in using computer systems and the listed software/hardware applications associated with performance assigned work is essential.  Basic problem solving skills associated with software applications used is expected.   Software usage relevant to job duties will be evaluated.
 
A combination of 5+ years of experience to include the following areas:
  • Microsoft Windows client operating system expertise, including Windows OS image administration, application packaging, and deployment
  • Active Directory and Group Policy design and administration
  • SCCM, SCUP, WSUS, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, WDS, WinPE, MAP, and other Microsoft lifecycle support tools
  • Microsoft Windows Server
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Technical documentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with workorder management systems
Training and/or Education:
Associate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education. 
 
Required Experience:
5 years working in Client Technology support with 2 years at Engineering/Lead level
 
Licenses or Certificates:
Virginia Driver’s License
Possess one of the following certifications: MCITP; MCSA; MCSE;  MCTS.
