We are now actively recruiting for a Cook III Position.  In this position, the Cook III performs code-specific responsibilities as listed here:

  • Prepares recipes with relatively simple processes.
  • Assists in special function preparation and execution.
  • Close supervision of Chef, Sous Chef or Lead Chef.

 

The Cook III prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, by accurately following our established policies and procedures. The Cook III will carefully follow directions given by the Sr. Sous Chef, and/or Executive Chef to ensure that safe and high quality food service is provided at all times. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation and handling techniques
  • General knowledge of safety and sanitation rules and practices
  • Responsible for hot food preparation, including accompaniments and garnishes
  • Correctly prepares hot entrees, soups and vegetables following preparation sheets and provided recipes for main dining room, healthcare, resident café, employee dining room and any special functions
  • Prepares and creatively assembles cold appetizers, salads, cold entrees following preparation sheets and provided recipes for main dining room, healthcare, resident café, employee dining room and any special functions
  • Does advance preparation as required
  • Completes food temperature checks at each meal, records these in temperature log book
  • Completes preparation and productivity records as specified by production system and stores food items properly at the close of meal service
  • Cleans work areas and equipment used in food preparation
  • Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices
  • Ensures that all hot food preparation and assembling is done in accordance with established procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety procedures and assists with evacuation of kitchen area to safe location in event of fire or other emergency

 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma/GED desired
  • Prior cooking, baking, food service experience preferred
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule
  • Able to lift 25+ pounds
  • Fluent English-speaking, writing, spelling and math skills
  • Neat, clean, and professional appearance
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Willing/able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events when required
