Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries is currently seeking a Cost Estimating Analyst 2 to join our Contracts & Pricing team of highly qualified, diverse individuals, and work with them on projects critical to the growth and success of the company. This team supports the Ford Class Aircraft Carrier new construction. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Analyze and compile data on every factor that may affect cost and are responsible for taking a project and breaking down all expenses including material, labor, and other resources.

• Works closely with auditing team to verify date and assist in the creation of proposals,

• Works with functional organizations (engineering, design, quality, operations, and planning) to review contract specifications and drawings.

• May work with a variety of departments such as; Engineering, Operations and QA/QC to determine parts, tools, or other equipment needed as part of the estimating process.

Estimates labor and material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on request for proposal (RFP) data submitted by prospective customers. Analyzes specifications, including sketches, blueprints, bills of material, or sample layouts, and calculates production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data. Collects cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors. Computes cost estimates of raw materials or subcontracted work and labor. Prepares and maintains historical cost data. Creates cost models for cost estimating elements. Prepares cost reports and presents findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, customer representatives, price auditors, vendors, and subcontractors.

**Preferred Qualifications:**



This is an intermediate level Cost Estimator position



• Experience in industrial, manufacturing or construction environment.

• Strong MS Office computer skills, particularly, Excel, Access and SAP

• Experience in operations research as well as a working knowledge of mathematics and finance

• Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to work in a close team environment as a strong team player

• Excellent organizational and customer service skills with a strong attention to detail

• Learns quickly, adjusts to change and enjoys challenges of a new problem or situation

• Ability and desire to learn new skills

• NNS Apprentice School graduate preferred.

• New carrier construction structural shop or shipboard experience preferred

• Knowledge of new carrier construction steel value stream and fitting/welding processes in order to develop defendable basis of estimates for Navy contract proposals
