Director of CHIP Planning and Project Management (FP454A)

The Center for High Impact Practices (CHIP) at Old Dominion University is accepting applications for the Director of CHIP Planning and Project Management (full-time, 12 month) position. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and completion of projects, reporting, and ad hoc assignments in CHIP. The incumbent will also provide comprehensive support for University-wide programs and initiatives led by CHIP. 

Primary duties include: lead CHIP in monitoring and coordinating project activities, performing needs assessments (i.e. – interviews, focus groups, student street team, and surveys), planning timelines, and communication plans; serve as liaison to internal colleagues, external constituents, and department leaders to implement projects, programs and services for students and faculty; provide support for the development and implementation of short- or long-term projects, which may include undertaking research, tracking trends, preparing presentations, development of meeting agendas, drafting briefing papers and/or compiling pertinent background materials for attendees, preparing summaries of discussion, coordinating logistical arrangements, and ensuring appropriate and effective communications with participants, as needed

Requirements

Required Education: Master’s degree in education, higher education, business management or related field.

 

Required Qualifications: Considerable experience working in a fast-paced, executive-level environment, managing projects, program development, and evaluation of services. Experience assessing educational programs. Experience with database design and management. Experience supervising students and staff. Demonstrated verbal presentation skills for dynamic populations. Ability to interact with all levels of management, faculty, and staff. Considerable use of professional acumen, discretion, and tact. Ability to create and manage complex work plans. Ability to analyze and interpret data. Demonstrated personal initiative and drive, flexibility, enthusiasm, and an innovative mindset. Demonstrated ability to look at challenges from a unique perspective. Proficient knowledge of student development, organizational management and strategic planning and program development. Knowledge of student/cognitive development theories and program assessment practices. Knowledge of information and innovative learning technologies related to student learning and academic support. Ability to manage multiple complex assignments in limited time allocations. Highly developed written and verbal skills with an ability to effectively communicate information to faculty, students, and university and external constituents. Knowledge of database management software.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Considerable experience working in a complex, educational environment.
