Job Description Summary

Adjunct faculty members must be responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Function

All faculty members must be skilled in oral and written communication and must be able to work cooperatively with other staff members.

Required Qualifications

Associate degree in Emergency Medical Services or related degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Two years of clinical experience. Certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia or National Registry of EMTs as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized regional or national accrediting body. Five years of experience in preshospital emergency care preferably in the 911-response setting. Certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia or National Registry of EMTs as a Paramedic. Instructor certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, ITLS/PHTLS disciplines. Experience with instruction, evaluation, and supervision of EMS students. Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
