Exercise Science Lecturer

Position Description: The Exercise Science program in the Department of Human Movement Sciences at Old Dominion University is searching for a Lecturer for the 2018-2019 academic year.  This is a one-year position.

 

Responsibilities: Duties include teaching undergraduate courses in Wellness Programing and Administration, Nutrition for Fitness and Sport, and possibly supervising interns.


Requirements

Required Qualifications: Candidates are required to have a master’s degree or higher in exercise science or related field with at least 18 credit hours of graduate coursework in exercise science. Candidates should have knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to wellness programming and nutrition. Additionally, the candidate should have teaching experience or show potential for outstanding teaching at the collegiate/university level


The Department and College: The HMS Department (www.odu.edu/hms) is one of six departments in the Darden College of Education (www.odu.edu/education) and offers baccalaureate and graduate degree programs in Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education, Park, Recreation and Tourism Studies, and Sport Management. The HMS Department currently has 21 full-time faculty, an administrative support employee, 18 graduate assistants, over 1,400 undergraduate majors, and approximately 80 graduate majors. The Exercise Science program has over 700 undergraduates and is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercises Sciences under the auspices of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. The department is housed in a building that includes state-of-the-art instructional and research facilities.
