Position Specifics: Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Technical Solutions division is a professional services business providing mission-critical and practical solutions to a wide variety of government and commercial customers worldwide.

HII-Fleet Support group, Virginia Beach is seeking an Export/Import Compliance Coordinator to function as the Focal Point providing direct international compliance support to the Fleet Support group.

This position provides support to company business units and programs in the application of company procedures related to U.S. Government export and import regulations including, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Federal Trade Regulations, US Census Bureau and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs. The position provides support to company-wide international business opportunities and requires processing of export and import requests pursuant to company policy, consistent with U.S. Government regulatory policy. Will work directly with the International Compliance Office Empowered Official at the division and corporate levels in commodity jurisdiction determinations, hardware shipment processing, utilization of existing export authorizations, and identifying export/import activity within the group.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the review and processing of export and import requests received from multiple business units, in accordance with company policy

• Review and approve exports of commodities and technical data using authorizations and exemptions/exceptions

• Review import requests for compliance with regulatory requirements and provide clearance instructions to brokers

• Responsible for assisting in the management of U.S. Government export licenses, agreements, exemptions/exceptions, technology release authorizations, and commodity jurisdiction determinations

• Assist in developing licensing strategies for contract awards that require export authorizations

• Assist in implementation of company procedures and instructions to support compliance with U.S. Government export regulations and company policy

• Assist and prepare reports and presentations

• Manage and maintain export files and records in accordance with regulations and company policies

• Support export/import compliance activities (e.g. training, self-assessments, internal and external audits)

• Participates in related business and corporate projects as required

Must be able to obtain/maintain a secret security clearance. Candidate have the following experience:

• At least 3 years of export / import related experience

• Experience performing export control analyses of programs and transactions to determine jurisdiction and classification of hardware, software, and technologies

• Experience in deploying import and export policies and procedures

• Experience with contracts or writing legal documents such as export license applications, technical assistance agreements

• Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills

• Excellent analytical skills and a proven ability to interpret and implement regulations

• Ability to participate in multi-functional teams working on export issues with an ability to drive issues to conclusions

• Attention to detail and follow through on assignments

• Self-starter who can develop effective networks with customers

• Ability to prioritize among complex and conflicting requirements



Plans, schedules and routes imports and exports, including monitoring the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations, ensuring related customer service, brokerage and customs transaction compliance. Maintains compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt and documentation of imported/exported products. Researches and resolves customer or supplier issues. Interfaces with internal and external worldwide import/export operations and organizations. Negotiates with foreign customers to develop handling agreements. Acts as liaison with U.S. customs representatives to resolve problems.
