Newport News Industrial (NNI) is hiring for experienced Welders.

Positions will support NNI's operations for 2nd and 3rd shifts at our Newport News locations (Jefferson Avenue / Enterprise Drive). Candidates must be able to work either shift.

Ideal candidate must be proficient in stick, MIG, TIG, and Flux Core processes. Candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision/oversight and have working knowledge of precision calibration tools (weld gauges), be able to operate multiple types of welding equipment, and possess good trouble shooting / problem solving skills. Candidate needs to be highly motivated and a self-starter, and have the ability to work multiple shifts (as needed) and travel (as required).

Respirator qualification will be required. Candidate should be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and climb ladders and stairs.

Performs welding processes on aluminum and steel parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys. Determines layouts and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

**Basic Qualifications:**

5 years of related experience with High School diploma/GED and/or certification in assigned area preferred.

May be required to physically access tight, low or high spaces, involving climbing, kneeling, stooping, standing, etc. Depending on area assigned, the job may involve exposure to extreme weather and other environmental conditions encountered in manufacturing, including noise, fumes, chemicals, moving and energized machines and systems, etc. Must be able to work variable schedule including overtime.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

Candidate should be able to read and interpret drawings (navy and commercial) and is preferred to have a nuclear background/experience. Associates Degree in Welding preferred as well as previous experience with automated welding processes and pipe welding. Torch qualifications with burning and pre-heating also a plus.
