**External Job Description:**



Newport News Shipbuilding, a Division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is currently searching for iDS Production Planning & Scheduler - Specialist Level 4, to join our team and embark on a courageous project to turn shipbuilding paperless; what we call Integrated Digital Shipbuilding or iDS.



This person will serve as the “Lead IDS Planner” for Manufacturing Planning in support of all iDS related efforts, to include development & implementation of VBMs, VWIs, SharePoint & all process development.



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Collaborate with other subject matter experts (SMEs) to innovate and solve complex problems to attain desired progress with iDS implementation.

• As an advisor and representative of the Build Authority Management Team, this person must be able to influence or lead development of new processes, procedures, software tools, POAMs, resource plans, presentations, use cases/prototype plans & the necessary training materials to support future work force development.

• Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills and must be able to establish and maintain strong working relationships with multiple functional areas, concurrently, within the NNS Value Streams and will require communication with various levels of management

Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.

**Basic Qualifications:**



Apprentice School graduate, or a Bachelor's degree and 10 years of progressive HII planning/production control experience



OR 8 years progressive production operations experience with a Masters degree



OR 15 years of progressive HII planning/production control/production management/ testing experience (minimum of 10 of the 15 years being planning/production control).



A candidate should possess a well-founded knowledge of Company operations, production processes, ship systems, and planning methods and schedules and/or plant maintenance activities, plus demonstrated leadership potential.
